This book is as close to an 'all-in-one' product on combating climate change at the individual & community level as I have ever seen. 

First, Sandi has companion videos to educate and motivate - suitable for all age levels and classrooms. I would certainly start there. She begins the book with her 'why' - many of us can relate to her experiences and the changes to the communities we grew up in. I grew up in Miami, have not lived there since the mid-90s and the flooding affecting the city due to rising sea levels did not happen there only 20 + years ago! 

She next explains the issues and science of climate change - but using very accessible language. This is very important, as many well-intentioned climate scientists and journalists often use language that presumes understanding - Sandi approaches topics as if the reader were new to them and uses simple language to explain complex ideas (not at all an easy thing to do!). 

The bulk of the book is '52 Empowering actions' which present actions that you can take as an individual AND community. This book contains ideas which can be presented in community groups such as places of worship, town commissions, classrooms , town commons, etc. Personally, I enjoyed learning about carbon offsets - ways an individual, or if you think outside the box, a community can help negate carbon producing activities. 

Sandi ends the book with a wealth of links which support the teachings of the chapters - most of which provide additional support for whichever action you chose to undertake.
